CarABE 2026 Event

Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 9:00 - 3:00 P.M. The Conference theme is: 

The Power of You: "Celebrating Bilingual Carolinas"

A Celebration of North and South Carolina's Dual Language and Multilingual Communities

The deadline to submit proposals is  December 1, 2025 until January 12, 2026. The CarABE committee will notify proposal applicants of their acceptance or denial by January 16, 2026.  Submit your proposal here.

Presentations are 45 minutes long (about 30 minutes with 10 minutes Q&A). 

      All presenters must register for the conference or be members in good standing of CarABE.  

Preconference Event Invitation:

Dr. Miguel Cardona, former US Secretary of Education, will speak on Friday 2/6/26. Doors open at 4 pm and talk begins at 5 pm. Venue is NC State University, Park Alumni Center, Main Campus Drive, NCSU, Raleigh, NC.

Dr. Cardona’s talk is Elevating our Students' Superpowers

You must register in advance for Dr. Cardona's event separately. The event is free, but space is limited. Dress is business casual. Music, food, and drinks will be served.

CarABE Inaugural Event

Tatyana Kleyn on the Four Pillars of Bilingual Education

Tatyana Kleyn

A professor of bilingual education and TESOL at The City College of New York, Dr. Kleyn is Principal Investigator for the City University of New York – Initiative on Immigration and Education (CUNY—IIE, pronounced ‘eye’) and has served as the president of the New York State Association for Bilingual Education (NYSABE) and was a Fulbright Scholar in Oaxaca, Mexico. Her latest book is titled Living, Learning and Languaging Across Borders: Students Between the US and Mexico. She received an Ed.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University in International Educational Development with a focus in Bilingual/Bicultural Education. She was also an elementary school teacher in San Pedro Sula, Honduras and Atlanta, Georgia.
